Pupdate

Riley and the pups moved over the house of Riley's caretaker last Sunday and are doing great.  Sandy recently retired so the pups have her undivided attention.  Yesterday it was warm enough for the pups to have their first outside experience.  Sandy's sheltie Ally is slowing warming up to the fuzzballs who invaded her house.  Sandy shared the following pics

4 weeks old

4 weeks old and FINALLY coming to life.  Big pups are typically a week behind developmentally.  Stormy weighs 6 lbs 6 oz and Twister 6 lbs 8 oz.  Weight gains are starting to slow down and we are gradually transitioning the pups to solid food.  Canned food was a hit earlier this week and no complaints were voiced today at soaked kibble.  The pups have a full set of baby teeth and are nursing standing up - Riley is still being very tolerant.  Although Riley wasn't keen on the idea, I started letting the other adult dogs around the pups.  While I was at work, I have left a radio on and we have been making lots of extra noise around the pups while good things are happening like cuddles and nursing.  This weekend, the pups had their first adventure in the living room and did very well.  So early socialization is in full mode.  Riley and the pups are moving over to the home of Riley's breeder caretaker to allow Sandy to have some quality puppy time, but we also allow me to get ready for Juliette's whelp next weekend.
